How to get Communities in your local bookstore

Thank you for your interest in getting Communities in your local outlets. Your support of our magazine will help extend our reach, bringing the best of life in cooperative culture to your community.

We have found that the best outlets to focus on are independent bookstores, alternative resource centers, and natural food stores. With that in mind, here are a few documents we put together to get you started.

How To Approach A Store We take you step-by-step through the process of approaching stores, communicating your passion for Communities, and getting them to sign on.

Bookstore Pitch A note directed at Magazine Buyers/Managers to find out whom they contact to get a wholesale account and start carrying our magazine. Print it out to give to prospective stores and leave it with sample copies of Communities.

Store Contacts Form Give yourself credit by filling out this form for each contact you make on behalf of Communities and sending it our way. You can fax, mail, or email it to our Business Office and we’ll follow up on your contacts.

If you have any questions or ideas you would like to share, please get in touch with John S., Business Manager, ads [at] ic.org.

We happily link to the following organizations, all of whom share our strong commitment to promoting community and a more cooperative world:
Cohousing The Federation of Egalitarian Communities - Communes Coop Community Cooperative Sustainable Intentional North American Students of Cooperation Global Ecovillage Network
Special thanks to the sponsors of our Art of Community Events.
